JBlog version 1.0 is now complete. It uses ASP.NET, a small library of C# objects, and Firebird as a back end. Seems like a simple enough application to cook up, but as it turns out you have to cover a lot of bases to make something that works nicely and accomodates curious visitors.
Of course, there's already a package out there called JBlog which is some guy's project written in Java. From what I can tell so far the project consists of one grammatically incorrect sentence and five lines of HTML comitted to CVS about a year ago. Java developers always name their projects "JSomething" because they can't think of anything else. My software is vastly superior, if only because it exists. For these reasons I am usurping the name, and I challenge anyone to take it from me!
Update (2004-02-02): With my sincere apologies to Professor Peabody, I'm happy to announce the launch of JBlog 1.01 with unicode text support. Post away, international visitors! Whether you are from מדינת ישראל or دولة اسرائيل or Росси́йская Федера́ция or 日本!
Note: Depending on the computer you're using, the international text above may appear to be a mess of boxes or question marks.
